Editing Session 1

When we started editing, we had a choice of editing software. We decided to use Adobe Premiere Pro as it included prfessional tools and effects which would produce quality videos as well as the fact that both Matt H and Matt B had some experience using such software beforehand; I took advantage of this and used it as an opportunity to widen my editing knowledge and my understanding of the software. As well as this, Mr Michie and Mr Ford were both very confident with this software as it is an area of expertise for them both- this allowed us to ask questions and learn more complicated features of the software which will be beneficial for future use, especially at A2.

Some of our desired effects and ideas turned out to be a lot more complicated than first anticipated; for example the 'stutter' scene where there are multiple very fast cuts from one shot to another of a Pinboard zoom- when in time with the audio Matt Bainbridge managed to maintain a good pace and shorten the clips to an appropriate length in order to get the ideal outcome as well as enhancing the effect of the zoom.

During the first half of the double period lesson I watched Matt H and Matt B work the software and asked questions on how they were cutting and resizing clips as well as how they were adding audio. Once the basics were learnt, I then spent the second half of the lesson researching tutorials on how to adjust the opacity and add sound bridges to a sequence. The boys were both very patient with my inexperience of the software and over the past few weeks have really helped me expand my knowledge and somewhat build up a confidence in using such software.
